SAN FRANCISCO, CA (NOVEMBER 2021) In November we were able to connect with Officer Bervin Smith, one of Forest Cove’s Neighborhood Police Officers, who hosted a Storytime event with the children at Forest Cove, a community we acquired this year and one of our largest properties with many children & younger residents.
The management team advertised the event well ahead of time to the residents, knocking doors to let all residents know, sending email blasts every week and having kids distribute flyers to their schools so other kids would know about it. We decided to hold the event at the end of school so that the kids can have some fun after a long day. On the day of the event we reorganized the leasing office with chairs, prepared food and beverage for attendees. Over 50 kids showed up. After the property manager gave some introductory comments about the officer and new developments around the property, Officer Smith started the session with “Oh the Places You’ll Go” book by Dr. Seuss and followed by “Pig the Pug” by Aaron Blabey.
We were overwhelmed and humbled by the engagement and participation of our residents, especially the young kids who attended the event. This gave us a great deal of encouragement to plan and host similar events in the future with the hope of bringing the community together and stay true to our founding principle of being both a home provider and stewards of these communities.
